Dujiangyan Irrigation System

The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, located in the western part of Dujiangyan City, Sichuan, is a world-renowned ancient water diversion project that operates without the need for a dam.

As one of the most important Chengdu tourist attraction, it consists of three key components: Yuzui, Feishayan, and Baopingkou. Yuzui divides the Min River into two branches, ensuring optimal water distribution. Feishayan functions as a flood discharge channel, regulating water flow and clearing silt, while Baopingkou controls the water intake of the inner river. This extraordinary feat of engineering not only solved irrigation and flood control challenges but also showcases the brilliant hydraulic expertise of ancient China. This attraction is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Chengdu for both history and nature lovers.
