Beneath the Wulao Peak and neighbouring Xiamen University, XiamenSouth Putuo Temple is one of the most important Buddhist temples in the region of Minnan. This ancient temple was established in Tang with an area of 258,000 square meters and has been renovated throughout different dynasties. The South Putuo Temple centred on Mahavira Hall consists of several halls, servicing buildings and dormitories for monks. It’s a nice temple to practice Buddhism and the believers, not just popular for tourists but for the locals who come often.
