More Info

It was first built in 1892 as a military wharf of Qing Dynasty. During the years of turmoil, Zhanqiao Pier have been occupied by German and Japan. After enlarging it for several times, it came to the current scale with length of 400 meters. Huilan Pavilion is standing at the end of the pier, containing the story of the pier and the surrounded area. The pavilion itself is on the label of Tsingtao beer. You may notice that the adjacent shoreline is also busy. A lot of people are digging in the mud for some little shellfish and crabs. Ready to get some pictures with seagulls, they are visiting the city in winter and spring. Wing its way across the bay, or circled around above the pier and waiting to be fed.
